First Tennessee Bank Online Banking Login - How to Access your Account
first tennessee digital banking login

First tennessee digital banking login -

First Horizon Bank, recently known as First Tennessee is one of the largest banks in the state of Tennessee. In addition to commercial banking and lending, it offers customers a full range of personal banking services. There are several types of checking and savings accounts available at First Horizon.

The rates offered on those accounts tend to be on the low side when compared with other banks nationally. Likewise, its service fees and overdraft fees are not especially customer-friendly. While there are account features that will appeal to some customers for their convenience, such as access to the national Allpoint ATM network, there are better options than First Horizon for most personal banking services.

First Horizon Overview

As its name suggests, First Horizon does most of its business in the Volunteer State, out of its headquarters in Memphis. It has banking locations throughout Tennessee, offering banking personal and commercial banking services. Additionally, through a partnership with Capital Bank (which has the same ownership), First Horizon customers can access bank branches in Florida, Virginia, and North Carolina.

First Horizon Account Features

Most First Horizon deposit accounts have a $50 minimum opening deposit, as well as a monthly service fee. In some cases, the monthly service fee can be waived based on certain benchmarks such a minimum balance or a minimum number of transactions.

There is free online and mobile banking with all First Horizon accounts. Most accounts also come with a Visa debit card, and access to the Allpoint ATM network, with more than 40,000 ATMs throughout the country.

Compare First Horizon to Other Competitive Offers

First Horizon Traditional Savings Account

Key FeaturesDetails
Minimum Deposit$50
Access to Your Savings AccountOnline, mobile, ATMs and physical branches.
SecurityFDIC insurance up to the maximum amount allowed by law.
Fees$5 quarterly fee, waivable for accounts with minimum balance of $250.
Current Terms and Rates0.01% APY

First Horizon's standard savings account, its Traditional Savings account, is low-fee, low-interest and low on features. The minimum balance required to avoid the quarterly $5 charge is $250, which makes the account somewhat more accessible than savings accounts at comparable banks.

That being said, the interest rate on this account is a paltry 0.01%, regardless of deposit level. Furthermore, ATM access is not standard with the account. In order to withdraw your money from an ATM, you will also need to set up a checking account.

In short, if you are interested in a savings account that will earn you interest or from which you can easily withdraw your money, this is not your best bet. First Horizon does have some other options for deposit accounts with slightly higher rates — read on to learn more about those.

First Horizon Regular CD (Certificates of Deposit)

Key FeaturesDetails
Minimum Deposit$1,000
Access to Your CD AccountOnline, mobile, ATMs and physical branches.
SecurityFDIC insurance up to the maximum amount allowed by law.
FeesNo monthly fee, but an early withdrawal penalty can equal 90 days interest.
Current Standard Terms and Rates
  • 30 Day: 0.02% APY
  • 60 Day: 0.02% APY
  • 90 Day: 0.02% APY
  • 180 Day: 0.25% APY
  • 270 Day: 0.25% APY
  • 12 Month: 0.30% APY
  • 24 Month: 0.25% APY
  • 36 Month: 0.25% APY
  • 48 Month: 0.25% APY
  • 60 Month: 0.25% APY

A certificate of deposit at First Horizon offers somewhat higher rates than the other deposit account options. The minimum deposit required to open a CD is $1,000. You can also earn higher rates on CDs 12-months or longer by linking your CD to a checking account.

By opening a CD you agree not to withdraw your money for a fixed amount of time, with longer periods earning higher rates. There is a penalty for withdrawing your money early, equal to 90 days of interest for most CDs.

The highest rate currently offered by First Horizon is 0.25% on a five-year CD. While that rate is certainly better than those offered on most First Horizon deposit accounts, it is lower than the rates offered on comparable CDs at a number of national banks.

First Horizon Add-On CD

Key FeaturesDetails
Minimum Deposit$500
Access to Your CD AccountOnline, mobile, ATMs and physical branches.
SecurityFDIC insurance up to the maximum amount allowed by law.
FeesNo monthly fee. First withdrawal every six month is free, penalties for additional withdrawals.
Current Standard Terms and Rates
  • Account balances below $25,000: 0.02% APY
  • Account balances of $25,000 and over: 0.06% APY

An Add-On CD is a slightly more flexible version of a certificate deposit. Where as the amount of a typical CD (and therefore the interest it can earn) is fixed for the length of its term, an Add-On CD allows you to contribute more funds to your CD. First Horizon also allows one free withdrawal from your Add-On CD every six months.

That being said, the rates on the Add-On CD are low enough that there is little justification for choosing this account type over a money market account, or even a regular savings account. For deposits below $25,000, the rate is just 0.02%.

First Horizon Money Market Savings Account

Key FeaturesDetails
Minimum Deposit$50
Access to Your Money Market AccountOnline, mobile, ATMs and physical branches.
SecurityFDIC insurance up to the maximum amount allowed by law.
Fees$9 monthly fee, waivable with one of the following
  • A linked checking account
  • $5,000 in combined deposits among all First Horizon accounts
Current Standard Terms and Rates
  • Account balances below $25,000: 0.01% APY
  • Account balances of $25,000 - $49,999: 0.02% APY
  • Account balances of $50,000 - $99,999: 0.03% APY
  • Account balances of $100,000 - $249,999: 0.05% APY
  • Account balances of $250,000 and over: 0.10% APY

A money market account functions a lot like savings account, with a few extra features. Most importantly, account holders have ATM access without signing up for an additional account, and can also write checks - two features that the standard First Horizon savings account lacks.

First Horizon's Money Market Savings account also has tiered interest rates. These don’t provide much advantage if your deposits are less than $250,000.

There is a $9 monthly service fee for the money market account. It is waived for accounts that are linked to a checking account and for account holders who have at least $5,000 in total deposits among all First Horizon accounts.

First Horizon Checking Accounts

Key FeaturesDetails
Minimum Deposit$50
Access to Your Checking AccountOnline, mobile, ATMs and physical branches.
SecurityFDIC insurance up to the maximum amount allowed by law.
Fees
  • Express Checking: $7 monthly fee, rebated with direct deposit
  • Classic Checking: $8 monthly fee
  • Select Checking: $9 monthly fee, rebated with direct deposit and 15 debit transactions
  • Premier Checking: $12 monthly fee, rebated with $5,000 in combined deposits
  • Premier Plus: $6 monthly fee, rebated with $25,000 in combined deposits

If you’re interested in opening a checking account, First Horizon bank has a number of options for you to choose from, from the relatively low-fee Express Checking account to the more advanced Premier Checking Account.

There are some advantages and disadvantages to First Horizon's checking accounts, so let’s start with the advantages. All First Horizon accounts come with free online and mobile banking, which is standard for a bank of its size.

They also come with a Visa debit card, which you can use to make purchase online and on the road. Lastly, they have access to the Allpoint ATM network, which means you should be able to find a fee-free ATM in most U.S. cities.

Now the disadvantages. All First Horizon checking accounts have a monthly fee, ranging from $7 to $12. In most cases, you can avoid that fee by meeting a condition. For an Express Checking account, for instance, all you need is one direct deposit per month to avoid the fee. The more advanced Premier Checking account requires a balance of $5,000 combined among all First Horizon accounts to avoid the fee. A Premier Checking account pays a small amount of interest on deposits.

First Horizon also charges a $37 fee for overdrafts, which is any transaction that draws your account below zero. If you link a savings account to your checking account, you can set up overdraft protection, which will automatically transfer money over to fill the gap, but the fee for that is still $15.

Where Can I Find First Horizon?

First Horizon does most of its business in Tennessee. It also has a partnership with Capital Bank (the two companies have the same owner), which has locations Florida, North Carolina and Virginia. First Horizon customers can do business at Capital Bank locations and use Capital Bank ATMs for free.

What Can You Do Online With First Horizon?

First Horizon's online banking platform allows you to transfer money between accounts, set up automatic bill pay and create budgets. Through the mobile app, you can also deposit checks remotely. The mobile app has a moderate rating on the Apple App store with 2.9 stars out of a possible 5.

How Do I Access My Money?

If you need to withdraw or transfer money, there are a few options. Transfers can be made from the mobile app or online. You can also set up wire transfers in one of First Horizon's branches, though there is a fee for this type of transfer.

Withdrawals can be made for free at any First Horizon ATM. First Horizon is also a member of the Allpoint ATM network, which has over 40,000 ATMs nationwide. Note, however, that not all First Horizon deposit accounts come with ATM access, so make sure the type of account you are opening does include that feature if it is important to you.

How Can I Save More Money With First Horizon?

There are not a lot of high-return deposit account options at First Horizon. Your best bet for a decent interest rate is a long-term certificate of deposit, but even those have rates below what other banks offer. In general, if earning a high interest rate is your top priority, First Horizon is not the best choice.

What’s the Process for Opening an Account With First Horizon?

You can apply for a First Horizon deposit account online, through its website. The application process takes less than half an hour, and requires some kind of ID (such as a driver’s license), your Social Security number and your contact information. You will also need to have your opening deposit handy, either through an online transfer from another account, or a debit or credit card number.

If you live in Tennessee, you can also open an account in person. Just head to your local branch and a banker will get you set up. You’ll need the same items and information required for the online process, though you may also be able to open your account with cash or a check if you do so in person.

What’s the Catch?

As we have mentioned elsewhere, First Horizon does not offer particularly high rates on its deposit accounts. If your priority is a high return, you can find better options elsewhere.

They also have fee requirements that may be onerous for some. For example, the Express Checking account requires a monthly direct deposit to avoid the monthly fee. That could be a problem if you are between jobs and do not have a steady source of income.

Bottom Line

First Horizon is a regional bank, with branches throughout the Volunteer State. It offers fairly low rates on deposit accounts such as its savings account and money market account, and its fee requirements may be difficult to meet for some. In short, there are few compelling reasons to go with First Horizon for your checking or savings account needs.

What does The Commercial Bank do to protect you?

  • We verify your identity. We use existing account information from our records to verify your identity before taking any steps to create your account.
  • User ID and Password. Your username and password are unique identifiers and no one can access your account without them.

  • Automatic Log Out. Online Banking automatically signs you out of a session if you are inactive longer than 20 minutes.
  • Encryption. We encrypt (128-bit Secure Socket Layer) your information so that it cannot be read as it passes over the Internet.
  • Additional Security Measures. Our network is structured so the servers that store your account information are not directly connected to the Internet, and we utilize firewalls, updated anti-virus software, application security and more to secure your Online Banking experience.

What can you do to help protect your online information?

  • Never write down or share your password. Passwords should never be automatically filled in by a computer. The same holds true for your security questions and answers.
  • Change passwords regularly. Do not alternate between the same passwords.
  • When you log in to Online Banking you are in a secure session. Make sure by looking at the web address - it should start with https://.

Online Bill Pay

Is there a fee for using Online Bill Pay?
No.  TCB Online Bill Payment is a free service to all The Commercial Bank online customers!

How does my payment get processed with Online Bill Pay, and when is the amount deducted from my checking account?
Depending on how your payee accepts payments, your Online Banking bill payments are sent to your payees in one of two ways: by electronic debit, whenever possible; or by mailed, paper check at no extra expense.

Electronic payments are preferred, and are sent when possible, and your checking account is debited on the business day you selected for that payment.

If a payee accepts checks only, an individual check is sent by mail and your checking account is debited for the payment amount on the business day that the check clears your account (just like a handwritten check).  When making a non-electronic payment (using a mailed, paper check) make sure you take notice of the estimated delivery time.  The postal service will need a few days to deliver the mailed item (we recommend setting these mailed items to pay 4 to 5 days in advance of the due date to allow sufficient delivery time).

How does Online Bill Pay work?
To pay your bills online, simply add the companies and people you want to pay into your list of Payees in the Online Bill Payment dashboard.  We use this name, address and account information to direct your online and paper check payments to the proper recipient.

The Bill Pay Dashboard section lists all of your scheduled bill payments for the current month. To pay a bill, simply select the desired Payee and then enter a payment amount and the date you want the company or person to receive the your payment . You can also select this date from the calendar.

Tip: When you enter an amount, Online Bill Pay automatically displays the estimated delivery date the biller will receive the payment.

You can pay as many bills as you want at the same time from the Bill Pay Dashboard.  The Payment History and Scheduled Payments sections provide a quick summary of your recently made payments and recurring payments on schedule to be paid in the future.

How do paid bills appear on my account?
The bill payments processed as electronic debits appear on your account as ONLINE BILL PAYMENT, followed by the name of the electronic recipient for that payment.  The payments made with paper checks will have a check number and image to view similar to your regular check images.

Additionally, through a partnership with Capital Bank (which has the same ownership), First Horizon customers can access bank branches in Florida, Virginia, and North Carolina.

First Horizon Account Features

There is free online and mobile banking with all First Horizon accounts. Most accounts also come with a Visa debit card, and access to the Allpoint ATM network, with more than 40,000 ATMs throughout the country.

First Horizon Traditional Savings Account

Key FeaturesDetails
Minimum Deposit$50
Access to Your Savings AccountOnline, mobile, ATMs and physical branches.
SecurityFDIC insurance up to the maximum amount allowed by law.
Fees$5 quarterly fee, waivable for accounts with minimum balance of $250.
Current Terms and Rates0.01% APY

First Horizon's standard savings account, first tennessee digital banking login Traditional Savings account, is low-fee, low-interest and low on features.

Most importantly, account holders have ATM access without signing up for an additional account, and can also write checks first tennessee digital banking login two features that the standard First Horizon savings account lacks.

If you link first tennessee digital banking login savings account to your checking account, you can set up overdraft protection, which will automatically transfer money over to fill the gap, but the fee for that is still $15.

Where Can I Find First Horizon?

First Horizon does most of its business in Tennessee. It also has a partnership with Capital Bank (the two companies have the same owner), which has first tennessee digital banking login Florida, North Carolina and Virginia.

What’s the Process for First tennessee digital banking login an Account With First Horizon?

It offers fairly low rates on deposit accounts such as its savings account and money market account, and its fee first tennessee digital banking login may be difficult to meet for some. In short, there are few compelling reasons to go with First Horizon for your checking or savings account needs.

    Ratings and Reviews

    2.3 out of 5

    1.5K Ratings

    Poor user experience design

This app is a mess. And when they update it they just seem to trade poor design choices for more poor design choices. I can’t count the times I have been confused by interaction prompts, navigation and settings. For me, all the white background and lack of contrast make certain aspects of the interface visually taxing as well. Currently, with the latest update, I can’t figure out how to “turn biometrics on” to enable face recognition, because it doesn’t tell you how to do that — or even give you a clue! I’ve checked in device settings (within the app) and the toggle switches for “disable face recognition” are filled blue, which would seem to indicate to me that they are activated. But if you tap on the switch it gives you a warning window with a “disable” button. Doesn’t make any sense to me. Makes me wonder if they do any usability testing on this app at all.

Hi, we are sorry that you are experiencing issues with the app. Your feedback has been forwarded to the proper department. For assistance, we recommend reaching out to our client services department at 1-800-382-5465. LC

It only gets 1 star because it allows me to transfer money from account to account

There is quite literally zero redeeming qualities about this mobile app. Not only is it slow and first tennessee digital banking login. But it also has had zero improvements over the last 5 years I have used it. You can only see the last 10 or so transactions you have made, no further. For that you will have to pull your statements, which is a completely separate process entirely. Why not allow users to access (at least) their past month’s transactions in a simple and easy way? Isn’t that the entire reason people use these apps?

I certainly hope you do not have a check you want to deposit through this app, because I promise no matter how you position your check or signature, it will not accept it. This has been an ongoing issue for years. Every few months I will give it another shot, thinking maybe there was an update I missed that has patched this. If you need to make a deposit, it’ll be less of a headache to just drive to the local branch. But it is always to no avail.

This app was bad when I first began using it circa 2015, and I excused it at the time because it was a new app and process for First Tennessee (Horizon.) But how have there been no improvements on these issues in that time? It’s ridiculous and frustrating. The only reason I haven’t switched banks is because I think it would be more of a headache switching than it is to deal with their ridiculous online interface.

Hi, thanks for taking the time to leave a review.

When using Quick Glance or viewing your "Dashboard," only the first 10 transactions will be available. To see more than 10 transactions, you may use the “Transactions” tab. This will allow you to go further back in your transaction history.

Regarding mobile deposit, we recommend putting your check on a dark background in a well-lit area for the best results.

If you continue to experience difficulty using the app, please contact Customer Service at 800-382-5465; we’d be glad to discuss your experience further and assist you with any troubleshooting. ^BMS

A app that does not work is useless

I have truly enjoyed deleting and reinstalling your app as have your other reviewers. hope you see the sarcasm but as you have not addressed any of the issues I felt the need to point it out. As on of your other reviewers wrote you need stars below 1 to acculturate rate how well you have ruined mobile banking for your customers!

It is comforting to see the star ratings dropping by the hour. perhaps you need to listen to your honest reviews reviewers and well written comments. To the other reviewers, great job by some to at least make us all laugh at this miserable failed attempt. Also we must visa money transfer citibank india the insincere reply from developer (auto reply I hope. if so please update)to try reinstalling or call a support line that is equally unresponsive with outlandish wait times I think shows what our latest merger has to offer. I do believe after 5 mergers it is time to bail on this bank!!! Best of luck on the next merger and to anyone reading this (I assume only frustrated customers) I wish you the best of luck and keep the great reviews coming. Short of this bank getting their first tennessee digital banking login together (doubtful) we will be with a bank that realizes it’s customers enjoy mobile banking and it’s benefits.

Sincerely maybeX ps taking all the money and don’t look for visitation rights.

Hi, we are so sorry to hear you are dissatisfied with our new mobile app. If you have feedback of specific features you would like to see or do not like, we would be glad to document them for you.
